Self-Employment & Business Start-up

Want to start your own business?

Self-employment is an increasingly important career option for graduates.

If you have an idea for something you want to do - whether it be a social, community or commercial enterprise - there is plenty of help and support around to help get you started.

The WestFocus Entrepreneurship Centre runs summer schools, alumni networks and events where you can meet and be inspired by other entrepreneurs. We have on-line Building Block materials which walk you through the basics of starting a business and we can put you in touch with many other support organisations. Our regular newsletter will keep you informed of the current opportunities.

Not sure where to start?

Working in a small enterprise is an excellent way of learning the ropes before setting up your own. You will be working alongside fellow entrepreneurs and you'll gain valuable experience in various activities across the organisation and a taste of what it's like to be your own boss.

University Talent is focused on finding opportunities for students and graduates in smaller enterprises. Take a look at our placement programmes in the lefthand menu.
